Description
LL-37 is a naturally occurring antimicrobial peptide that forms part of the human innate immune system. It is the active peptide derived from the human cathelicidin precursor protein, hCAP18, and is primarily produced by immune and epithelial cells.
LL-37 has been extensively studied for its broad biological activity. Research has investigated its interactions with microbial membranes, immune signaling pathways, inflammation, wound-healing processes, and cellular responses. Because of these properties, LL-37 continues to be an area of interest in microbiology, immunology, tissue biology, and therapeutic research.
LL-37 is primarily a research subject rather than an established therapeutic treatment.
