FOXO4-DRI is an experimental peptide designed to interfere with the interaction between the transcription factor FOXO4 and the tumor-suppressor protein p53. This interaction has been investigated in cellular senescence—the process in which damaged or stressed cells stop dividing but remain metabolically active. Preclinical research has explored FOXO4-DRI as a potential senolytic compound, meaning an agent that may selectively promote the removal of certain senescent cells. In laboratory and animal studies, disrupting the FOXO4–p53 interaction has been associated with changes in the survival of senescent cells and improvements in certain experimental measures of tissue function.
